It's been a while.

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've posted on my author blog. I guess I should give everyone an update for those who are curious about the rest of the Blood Empire series and everything else I've been working on as well.

So, for now, the Blood Empire series is on a break. Mainly because I'm in my last semester of college and I barely have time to breathe, let alone write and edit a novel. That doesn't mean I'll never finish it. I fully intend to complete my series after graduation. I have an outline made and know exactly where the story is going, so don't you worry. I'll get it done when I once again have free time.

In other news, I am still writing. Because the Blood Empire series is actually like my child, I have put it aside so I can give it the attention it deserves. But, like, I have to write or I'll go crazy. So I've been working on a brand new idea which I am REALLY excited about. I've written approximately one chapter, and that's all I've had time for since the last time I posted on this blog. This story is pretty exciting, and it's told in a really interesting format. I also intend to do a lot more with it when I graduate, so look out for that as well.

Last thoughts: THE LAST SEMESTER OF COLLEGE IS THE WORST.  Also, why do I procrastinate so much? If I didn't procrastinate, I might still have some semblance of sanity in my life. But here I am, reading like twelve articles, three books, writing a paper, and preparing for TWO tests in the same week. And I'm ridiculously  behind on learning my vocab for Japanese class, but at least I enjoy that.

That being said, say a prayer for me, because I'm gonna need it. You'll get a second book eventually.

Hello homies!

Just thought I'd try that out 'cause I really love the word homie. Yeah, yeah, I'm weird. I know. I write books, so of course I'm not normal.

Today I'm gonna talk about the horror that is writer's block.

You see, for  a while, I didn't believe in writer's block. It took me less than four months to write Blood Princess. I could've finished it even sooner if Netflix didn't exist. But it does, and I was watching the world's greatest show ever, Roswell, so I took a little more time. Still, four months isn't bad. 

Anyways. 

I am now a believer in writer's block. IT SUCKS. SO MUCH. I HATE IT.  Lately, I can't seem write anything that doesn't make me want to rip it up and feed it to an alpaca.  I can think about my characters all day and night, creating the intricate details of the plot and growing them as people. No big deal. When I try to write, however, my brain turns to spaghetti noodles.

But I've got a sequel to write, so I'm gonna keep on working at it until something finally clicks.

I'm also gonna try reading more. I've heard that reading a good book is sure to get rid of your writer's block in a jiffy, so we'll see if that works.

And now, here's what's currently happening in my life:

Finals: are over! So is school! Thank goodness. I was so done with everything. SUMMER BREAK IS HERE AND I'M LEAVING THE COUNTRY. But forreal. I'm actually going to do that.

Japan: and that's where I'm headed. I'll spend a lovely seven weeks making friends and sharin' Jesus. I'm pumped. I love Jesus, and Japan. Hopefully I'll get a chance to use the Japanese that I know!

Currently reading: I was reading Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare, but I straight up lost the book. It was $17 dollars, too. I'm kinda bitter about it. I hope it turns up before my 10 hour plane ride.

Currently watching: Still Gossip Girl. And NCIS....That finale, though?!!? Bye, Tony. Thank you for one last episode full of ALL THE TEARS. Forreal, when I watched it all I could do was cry and eat cookie dough.

Currently thinking: about cookie dough, because that sounds delicious. And about how excited I am for this new makeup I ordered to come in on Monday.  

So there you have it. My life right now. I'll have a guest blogger for the next few months, as I will be in another country and won't have the time to post regularly. Thanks for helping  me out, Tim! You da best. 

Hey guys! I haven't updated on here very much lately, and for that, I apologize.

BLOOD PRINCESS HAS BEEN PUBLISHED. IN PRINT. Like, almost half a month ago.

SO, sorry for slacking. My bad.


My life right now:

Finals: So, those of you who know me, know that while I enjoy the social aspect of school, I'm not fond of the work aspect. Unfortunately for me, finals are fast approaching and that means EVERYTHING is basically due next week. So, I've got lots of work to do.

Sequels: I'm still typing away on the sequel. It's a lot different writing a sequel than it is writing a first book. It's fun, but different. Kind of like coming back from summer vacation or moving onto the next season of your favorite TV show. It's kinda cool.

Japanese: Still lovin' it. It's the exception to my hatred of schoolwork. I LOVE learning Japanese. I always enjoy class and even actually enjoy taking Japanese tests. I know, that's weird, but it's my life. Japanese is awesome.

Currently reading: Unfortunately, nothing. I am typing away at my book and I've been more focused on that than I have been on reading anything. Feel free to hit me up with suggestions of books in the comments, though. I'm going to be on a 16 hour plane ride this summer and I will DEFINITELY need some good books to read.

Currently watching: ....Gossip Girl. I watched, like, 11 episodes yesterday. I just get so absorbed. It's all my roomate's fault. WHY HAVE YOU DONE THIS TO ME. Just kidding! I love ya. Also, NCIS, because Gibbs. And Tony. And McGee. And Abby. And literally every character that's on the show.

Currently thinking: That I would really like a nap. Naps are so good.


Awesome! There's an update for you. I'm working on a playlist for the next book that I'm gonna post sometime soon, Just a song for each chapter that will leave you wondering what on earth the next book could possibly be about. Isn't that fun?!

FOUR DAYS LEFT!

Can you believe there are only FOUR days left until the release of Blood Princess? I sure can't. Let me tell you, I am SUPER excited! This is a dream come true for me!

With that, I wanted to give you guys some information.

First off, you should check out https://www.finch-books.com/ . That's where my book will be making it's big debut at. You can already see my cover featured on the page! How cool is that?!

Second of all, I'm gonna let you know some ordering information. For those of you wanting an E-Book copy of Blood Princess, you are in luck! On January 26, you can begin to download Blood Princess on the Finch Books website. For two months, Blood Princess will be available exclusively on the Finch Books website as a special promotion for the launch of the company. For those of you wanting a print copy of Blood Princess, you might have to wait a bit longer. From what I hear, the print option will be available beginning March 22. 

I'll definitely be posting updates more frequently now, so as soon as I find out any more information, I'll let you know. I'm so excited to share Blood Princess with you!!

Wow! It's been a long time since I've posted on here. I'm excited to be back! I'm also excited to announce that I have a new release date! Blood Princess will be available  for purchase and download on the Finch Books website and will be available for pre-order at select retail options on January 26, 2015. General release for all retail options will be on March 22, 2016.

Soon, I will post an update about buying details and other fun things, but for now, this is all the news I've got.

Public Service Announcement: Blood Princess is NOT about vampires. I get that a lot. I also totally understand where it comes from. But it's actually about a princess who also happens to be an assassin. I'll be posting more about that later!

Being a Senior and Writing a Sequel

So, today was my first day of my senior year of college! Well, my first senior year, anyways. I get to be in college for five years instead of four, but that's okay. More fun for me!

I'm really tired now, but it was a pretty great day. I'm really excited for my Japanese class. I know it's going to be a challenging language to learn, but I'm certain that it will be very rewarding.

As far as book news, I don't have much. There's going to be A LOT of awesome news I'll post in September. Maybe I'll even get to post my cover! Who knows, but look out for that! In the meantime, I'm writing book two of the series.

I'm finding my sequel to be much less difficult to write than Blood Princess was.  I know my characters really well now. I guess that's a weird thing to say, since, you know, I made them up in the first place. I just know them as well as I know myself. I know how Laura would react in any situation, and Shane too. When you first create a character, that's the kind of stuff you have to think about. Now that I've done all that, it's much easier to get into the character's head when I'm writing.

You'd think that means that the writing process goes a lot faster, but it hasn't. Netflix exists, so there is the eternal struggle of watch Netflix or be productive. Netflix wins a lot.

Well, that's all the news I've got for now. I'm so excited to share Blood Princess with you all. Only a few more months, and it will be here!

Editing: Round One is Complete!

I just finished my first round of editing! It feels so real now, and I can't wait for Blood Princess to come out in November. Surprisingly, I enjoyed editing. I finished 20 chapters on Monday and I completed the last 7 tonight.

I've also been drawing some of my characters! I'll probably upload some of those sketches on my blog whenever I finish up one of everybody. I have so many ideas for pictures that I'd like to draw, and so little motivation to do so. It would be nice if there was a pen that could just scan the image from my brain and draw it for me. It's 2015. Why don't we have that? We don't even have flying cars for everyday use. Back to the Future was wrong.

Anyway, now that I'm done with that rant. Well, really there's not much else going on. I get to see my best friend in FIVE DAYS after being separated from her for six weeks. FIVE DAYS. Let me tell you, I am so pumped!

Speaking of friends, I just wanted to take a minute and thank everybody for the support that I've gotten since I announced that Blood Princess was getting published. It has meant the world to me! I'm so grateful that God has blessed me by putting so many encouraging, supportive people in my life. So if you've read one of my blog posts, liked my facebook page, shared something, or even just liked my announcement, thank you so much! It means so much to me.
